We know that carrying out your own invasion of Hadrian's Wall can be a time intensive but unforgettable experience. We encourage all our friends to give themselves sufficient time to explore and conquer this part of the world. The Vindolanda Trust has  beautifully appointed holiday homes of which two are right next door to Roman Vindolanda and two next to our Roman Army Museum. Book any of our properties and get unlimited visits to both Roman Vindolanda & The Roman Army Museum during your stay.

Codley Gate House (Sleeps 8)

The magnificent four bedroom Codley Gate Farmhouse is now available to rent for the perfect family holiday home. The house sleeps up to 8 people and has a stunning kitchen, cosy lounge, reading room, boot & utility room and four bedrooms (including one which is en-suite). Outside to the rear of the property is a private garden, the perfect place to unwind and relax. Dogs (2 max) are welcome at this property.

Codley Gate Cottage (Sleeps 6)

The cottage at Codley Gate Cottage has been converted and provides superbly appointed 5 star holiday accommodation for up to 6 people. There is a fabulous well-equipped spacious dining kitchen, a cosy sitting room with an inglenook style fireplace and three double bedrooms (one downstairs), each with their own luxury en-suite bathroom. Lovely country walks can be enjoyed directly from the cottage.  Dogs (2 max) are welcome at this property.

Codley Gate House (Sleeps 8)


Codley Gate Cottage (Sleeps 6)

This stone-built, farm-style cottage set perfect for a multi-generation family with a ground-floor bedroom and bathroom. Perfectly located in Hadrian’s Wall country for exploring Northumberland National Park and international Dark Sky Park plus the many attractions both inland and at the coast. The property is right on the doorstep of world-famous Vindolanda Roman fort.


Carvoran Cottage 

(Sleeps 3)

(2 bedrooms, sleeps 3). The beautifully appointed properties are surrounded by history and have unparalleled south facing views of the open countryside. A spacious lounge and dining room leads to an orangery, shared with Carvoran House, where you can enjoy gazing at the Northumberland stars and give access to the gardens. The cottage has two bedrooms, a double and a small double and a shower room, kitchen and separate utility room. (Pet free)

(4 bedrooms sleeps 6)  Enjoy an unforgettable stay at Carvoran House, a spacious self-catering holiday home surrounded by history and adjacent to the Roman Army Museum. The house has two super king bedrooms and two twin or super king bedrooms, two shower rooms a comfortable living room and a dining kitchen. Unparalleled views to the south are afforded through the sunroom which lead to the orangery shared with Carvoran Cottage which leads out onto private patio and shared gardens. (Pet free)

A beautifully carved sandstone relief which depicts a naked male figure holding a spear stood in front of a horse/donkey has been uncovered during the annual excavations at the Roman fort of Vindolanda near Hadrian’s Wall in Northumberland. Read more
