The original 50 highly polished stainless steel shields that made each of our symbols for the VOTUM exhibition are dispersing. The spirit of VOTUM continues to resonate and we’re offering you the opportunity to own one of these individual pieces.
Each shield is being sold as an artist edition with all proceeds going back to the Trust for its creative programme.
Each shield will carry a certificate of authenticity, with edition number and has been signed by the artist David Appleyard.
The shields do carry battle scars from their time on site but these minor imperfections reflect and celebrate their role in creating the symbols across the Vindolanda landscape.
Due to the weight of these shields (8kg) they only available for collection only from Roman Vindolanda. You will be contacted after you have purchased the shield to arrange a collection date.
